How to choose a firewood rack

Indoors

A vertical rack next to the stove holds a few days of logs on a small footprint. Racks on wheels move wood from the door to the fire without a trail of bark.

Outdoors

Stack under a roof or overhang and keep the logs off the ground, so air reaches the wood and it stays dry. Horizontal racks suit long rows along a wall.

Size

Measure your logs first: the rack should be a little deeper than the logs are long, so they don’t hang over the edge.
